7 Factors that impact life insurance in Florida

A. L. Saland Insurance Solutions Inc. wants to take the guesswork out of life insurance.

Serving the state of Florida, our seasoned agents understand that underwriting and calculating insurance rates can be confusing to understand.

Here are seven demographic, health, and lifestyle factors that directly impact life insurance premiums:

Policy type

Term limits and length influence both premiums and payouts. As a general rule, permanent life insurance is more expensive since it guarantees death benefits.

Age

Life insurance becomes more costly as you age. Since younger people have longer life expectancies and more time to pay for premiums, rates are typically lower.

Gender

Like younger individuals, women also have longer life expectancies when compared to men. In fact, women in the U.S. live an average of five years longer.

Medical History

Insurers will review your medical history for any pre-existing conditions. Chronic ailments, like cancer or heart disease, increase premiums or may disqualify you from a policy altogether.

Family History

Your family’s medical history will be reviewed as well. A pattern of illness could produce the same results as above, even if you’re currently healthy. Underwriters must weigh the risk of you developing future problems later in life.

Employment History

Some occupations are simply more dangerous than others. Jobs, like construction or commercial fishing, add heightened risk and higher premiums.

Lifestyle

How you spend your free time matters too. As part of their risk assessment, insurers will try to get a complete picture of your hobbies, behaviors, and overall lifestyle.

Tips for First-time Homeowners Looking To Buy Home Insurance in Florida

As a first-time homeowner in Florida, you may wonder what kind of home insurance coverage you need. A. L. Saland Insurance Solutions Inc can help you get the right coverage for your needs and budget.

Know What Kind of Coverage You Need

There are a few things to consider when determining how much coverage you need for your home insurance. The first is the value of your home and possessions. An appraisal or a home inventory can determine this.

The second is the amount of liability coverage you need. This amount will depend on factors such as the value of your assets and the likelihood of someone suing you. The third is the deductibles you are willing to pay. Higher deductibles will lower your premiums, but you must pay more out of pocket if you make a claim.

Finally, you should consider any special risks that apply to your situation, such as whether you live in a flood zone or an area prone to wildfires.

Bundle Up

When buying home insurance for the first time, ensure you get the best possible deal. One way to do this is to bundle your home insurance with other types, such as auto or life insurance.

Bundling can often save you money on all your premiums and make it easier to keep track of your coverage. In addition, bundling can give you peace of mind by knowing that all your assets are protected in one place.

How Do I Qualify For Medicare Insurance?

To enroll in Medicare, you should be 65 or disabled and have a Social Security Number. You can also enroll in Medicare at any age if you have end-stage renal disease, a condition that limits your kidney function and causes high blood pressure.

There are some exceptions, such as if you have a condition that would have prevented you from signing up for Medicare when you were eligible. Those with Lou Gehrig’s or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis at any age can try. Don’t hesitate to seek help from the Florida agency, A. L. Saland Insurance Solutions Inc.

Qualifying for Medicare Insurance

You must have been age 65 or older by June 5, 2017, and a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. You may apply for Medicare coverage if you are receiving Social Security disability benefits or if you have end-stage renal disease. You must have worked at least 10 years in the United Red Cross blood donation or have completed a minimum of three years in the United States.

In most cases, you must also have qualified medical coverage for at least 90 days before applying for Medicare. You may qualify for a special exception if you are in a situation of domestic violence or sexual assault.

To be eligible, you must have been covered by a qualifying health plan at some point during the past six months. To be covered by a qualifying plan, it must cover at least 60% of all costs for covered benefits.

If you turn 65 or older, you can qualify for Medicare if you have worked for at least 10 years, have the end-stage renal disease (kidney failure) or are dependent on someone with end-stage renal disease, have amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig’s disease) or are a dependent of someone with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, have been disabled for at least 6 months, or are a widower or widow.

If you qualify for either type of Medicare, you can then choose between the traditional Medicare program and one of the Medigap plans to cover the costs of prescriptions.

In addition, you must have paid Medicare taxes for at least 40 quarters if you were age 21 or older when you first earned income that was subject to the Social Security flat rate. Lastly, you must have been medically insured for at least 60 months (three years) and have been receiving Social Security benefits for at least 36 months.

Besides the aforementioned tips, to be eligible for Medicare, you must be enrolled in a qualifying plan, have ended active employment, or have a disability. In some cases, you should’ve ended active employment. Visit A. L. Saland Insurance Solutions Inc for inquiries in Florida.

What Are The Different Types Of Disability Insurance?

Disability insurance mainly consists of long-term and short-term coverage. If you can’t work for at least 90 days, the long-term coverage gives you part of your income. Short-term usually covers you if you can’t work for a few days due to a serious illness or injury. If the condition deters you from normal activities, you can also purchase medical insurance to cover a certain percentage of your medical bills. Other types of disability insurance include parent/family leave, critical illness, and accidental disability. A. L. Saland Insurance Solutions Inc serving in Florida can help.

What to Know About Disability Insurance

Whether private or government insurance, each comes with its benefits and drawbacks. After that waiting period, you will receive a set amount of money each month, depending on your policy. Government disability comes with no waiting period, but you will only receive a set amount of money. The common types of disability cover include:

  • Short-term disability insurance
  • Long-term disability insurance
  • State disability insurance
  • Workers’ compensation
  • Disability overhead expense insurance
  • Mortgage disability insurance
  • Supplemental disability insurance
  • Social Security disability insurance

Short-term disability will typically provide 40% and 60% of your income if you cannot work for between 7 and 12 months. Long-term disability can kick in after a specified period or if you have exhausted your short-term benefits. Long-term disability will typically offer 40% and 60% of your income if you cannot work for more than 12 months.

Critical illness insurance can help you cover treatment costs for serious illnesses, such as cancer. Disability insurance can be taken out as a single policy or in combination with other types of insurance. You can package it as an employee benefit or separately. This insurance comes in several different types, but the main goal is to cover your financial needs whenever you can’t work.

Whether private or governmental, you should understand each type before making a purchase. Private disability insurance is typically purchased through an insurance carrier and is most often used to protect a company’s profits rather than an individual’s income. What You Need To Know About RV Insurance

RVs provide the perfect combination of travel and accommodations. Many people are starting to realize the great benefits of RV ownership and even the benefits of living a full-time RV life. If you spend a good deal of time in your RV, you need to make sure you have the proper insurance in place. At A. L. Saland Insurance Solutions Inc. we can help you better understand your RV insurance options in Florida. Keep reading to learn more.

What You Need To Know About RV Insurance

RV and Auto Insurance Are Not The Same

The first thing you should know as an RV owner is that RV and auto insurance are not the same thing. RV insurance will provide a wider scope of coverage. This is because the RV will house some of your personal belongings. If the RV also serves as your residence, then you will need to discuss this with an insurance agent. This professional will be able to talk about how you can customize the policy to fully cover you as an RV resident.

What Does RV Insurance Cover?

RV insurance is similar to auto insurance in some ways. For instance, RV insurance will provide coverage for damage to the RV or to other vehicles if the RV is involved in an accident. If the RV is damaged or lost because of a fire, storm, or even burglary, the policy can pay for repairs or replacement of the vehicle.

The difference, however, is that RV insurance will also provide coverage for your personal belongings within the RV. If you only use the RV for a certain part of the year, you can also get a specialized policy that is only active during that time.

Questions you should ask before you choose a health insurance policy

Talking about stress, choosing your health insurance plan is one of the most stressful things you do every year. It is such an important decision that it cannot be taken lightly. You will have to live with that decision for a year, be it good or bad. Before you make a decision,  there are some questions that you need to ask. At A. L. Saland Insurance Solutions Inc in Florida, we are independent insurance agents and are dedicated to personalizing the experience of all of our customers. We work to make sure your insurance provides what you need it to at a price you can live with.

How much does the insurance cost per month?

While price is only one factor and isn’t even the most important one, it has to be considered. No matter how good of a fit a policy is, if you can’t afford to pay for it, it won’t do you much good.

What is the deductible?

These days, high deductible policies are all the rage, but if your deductible is so high you never get any coverage, the plan won’t be much of a benefit.

Is my doctor in-network?

Every plan has a network of providers. Not every doctor is in every network, and if you have a doctor you prefer to use, they must be in the network. Especially if they are your primary care physician,  they will have a lot of input into your healthcare.

Does the policy have drug coverage?

If you take prescription drugs, you need to know that your health insurance provides prescription coverage. The drugs are listed in a formulary in tiers. Each tier has a copay, and some also have a deductible. Not every drug is included, and in some cases, you will be required to use a generic rather than the brand name.

Why An Automobile Insurance Policy Is Important

Why An Automobile Insurance Policy Is Important

Wondering what the benefits of getting an insurance cover for your vehicle are? There are many car insurance benefits, especially right after an accident happens. The main benefit of insuring your vehicle is to save you money, whether you caused the crash or are a victim. Another benefit is to comply with certain area traffic laws. If you live in Land O Lakes, Florida, A. L. Saland Insurance Solutions Inc. takes care of all your automobile insurance needs and spares you from negotiating with other drivers and property owners involved in the accident.

Is Automobile Insurance Mandatory?

Yes, all drivers must carry automobile insurance and show proof in the vehicle when driving on any road in Florida.

Does an Insurance Cover Save You Money?

Yes, a good insurance policy can save you money when you don’t have to pay for damages. Car accidents are common, and while you may be very careful on the road, you are always exposed to situations by other drivers. In the unfortunate instance that an accident happens, the guilty driver is supposed to cover all costs. The costs include medical fees, legal fees as well as lost income.

Without a certain automobile insurance cover, the driver is forced to pay for the costs out of his pocket. However, with an automobile cover, the insurance company covers the vehicle’s repair and, in some instances, even replaces it. With an automobile insurance cover, you will end up paying less if you are involved in a large accident. A head-on crash accident can end up costing you huge monetary losses, but with a policy, you will end up paying very little for the accident.

How can A.L. Saland Insurance Solutions Inc. Help You Reap the Benefits of Auto Insurance?

If you live in Land O Lakes, Florida, A. L. Saland Insurance Solutions Inc. will guide you in choosing the most suitable compatible insurance group for your vehicle model, which damages each policy covers and explains its benefits to you clearly and professionally.

What Are The Threats Of Not Having Home Insurance?

Unlike car insurance, homeowners insurance is not mandatory. However, having this insurance is a smart decision because it is one of the smartest ways to protect your home. If you decide to skip it anyway, here is a list of risks you may face:

It Will Be Expensive To Repair Home

If something happens to your home, and you do not have home insurance, you will have to cover all the expenses yourself, which can be very expensive.

You Can Be Sued

If a visitor or guest gets hurt on your property, they may sue you for everything you are worth, even including your home. As a result, you may have to pay litigation fees and cover their medical bills. However, if you have insurance, there is nothing to worry about  – your policy will cover everything.

You May Lose Your Belongings To Burglary

If someone breaks into your home and steal your personal belongings, your loss will not be covered, and your personal stuff will not be replaced because you do not carry home insurance. Unfortunately, this happens more often than you think, so skipping home insurance is quite risky.

Violation Mortgage Clause

Most mortgage lenders require homeowners to have proper home insurance. Therefore, failing to maintain insurance can be grounds for foreclosure. As a result, you may be at risk of losing your home if you decide not to purchase home insurance.

3 Benefits of Medicare Supplement Insurance

If you or a family member are enrolled in Medicare A and B, then you know there are certain costs that aren’t covered by the health insurance programs offered by the government. The good news is that you can enroll in a different federal program referred to as Medicare Supplement, aka Medigap. The team at A. L. Saland Insurance Solutions Inc. wants to share some of the benefits of Medicare Supplement insurance with Florida residents.

Worldwide Protection

The great news about most Medicare Supplement insurance policies is that the coverage will go with you regardless of where you are in the world. For instance, if you are in Italy and become ill, the insurance will kick in and pay for some of the costs. However, depending on the terms of your insurance policy, you may be subject to pay a one-time copay or deductible.

Flexibility with Doctor Selection

You won’t have to worry about searching through an extensive list of in-network doctors, as Medicare Supplement insurance allows you to stay with one preferred physician assuming they take Medicare A and B insurance plans. This is true with specialists, hospitals, medical treatment facilities, urgent care, etc.

No Concerns with Cancellation

As long as you remain enrolled in both Medicare A and B health care plans and continue to pay your insurance premiums on time every month, you never have to worry about your Medicare Supplement insurance policy being called. The policy can be renewed every year.

If you would like to learn more about Medicare Supplement insurance, how it works, and how you can benefit from it, reach out to A. L. Saland Insurance Solutions Inc. Our team proudly serves the Florida area and would be happy to help you gain the Medicare insurance coverage you need.
